EVMWD receives national honors for budgeting, financial reporting

In recognition of best practices and transparency, Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District (EVMWD) has received three national honors for its budgeting and financial reporting excellence.

For the 25th consecutive year, EVMWD was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). This recognition is the highest form of acknowledgement in governmental and financial reporting.

EVMWD also received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the GFOA and the Operating Budget Excellence Award from the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers (CSMFO). To receive these honors, a budget must meet the highest standards possible for comprehensiveness and transparency.

“We strive to continually demonstrate exceptional displays of financial transparency and communication,” said Harvey Ryan, president of the EVMWD Board of Directors. “The work of the EVMWD finance team exemplifies our commitment to best practices in financial reporting.”

The GFOA is a non-profit organization founded in 1906 to represent public finance officials throughout the United States and Canada. The CSMFO is a statewide organization serving all California municipal finance professionals and promoting excellence in financial management.

EVMWD provides service to more than 144,000 water, wastewater and agricultural customers in a 96-square-mile area in Western Riverside County. The District is a sub-agency of the Western Municipal Water District and a member agency of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
