The Canyon Lake Lions Club is an all-volunteer service organization dedicated to helping those in need, providing enhancement to the Canyon Lake community and extending assistance to others throughout the country and world as needed.
The Canyon Lake Lions Club is one of more than 40,000 Lions Clubs with 1,300,000 members in 208 countries. Founded in 1917, the Lions are best known for accepting Helen Keller’s challenge to become Knights of the Blind.
The Lions are also known for their work with people being sight and hearing impaired. In recent years, Lions have taken on concern and support for childhood pediatric cancer, diabetes and drug and alcohol abuse.
In addition to the Canyon Lake Lions Club donating time and energy to meet service needs, the club helps support various causes financially through the funds raised throughout the year.
Some of the organizations the club supports include CA Friends in Sight, Canyon Lake Friends of the Library, H.O.P.E , Kidsight, Guide Dogs of the Desert, Sight and Hearing Foundation, Lions Hearing Foundation, American Diabetes Association and U.S. Vets.
Activities club members engage in include the annual Pancake Breakfast, Lions White Cane, Charity Pro-Am Golf Tournament and Eyes Across California, to name a few.
The Canyon Lake Lions Club is seeking men and women who are interested in having fun and fellowship while serving others. Club meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the lodge. For more information, contact Don Riley at 951-244-9766.
