Fine Arts Guild to host free concert

“Margaritaville by the Lake,” a Jimmy Buffett tribute concert, is planned for Saturday, July 21, at 8 p.m. at the Holiday Harbor amphitheater. Gary Seiler and the CoastRiders will perform many “Parrot-head” tunes introduced by Jimmy Buffett, as well as other tropical rock tunes from the 60s, 70s and 80s.

The Saturday evening event is hosted by the Canyon Lake Fine Arts Guild in appreciation for the community’s support of the Fine Arts Guild over the past 17 years.

The Amphitheater is a new facility under construction at Holiday Harbor overlooking the lake. With the stage at the edge of the water, it’s a unique location to attend the concert aboard your boat with some of the band’s speakers pointed towards the water.

As all the permits have not yet been secured by the POA, there is some possibility the event may take place at Indian Beach. “We should have that announcement within a week or so of the event, based on the progress of the permit process between the POA and the City,” said Guild President Ron Martel. “Both organizations have committed their full cooperation to completing this facility.”

In addition to the 8 p.m. concert, The Jr. Women’s Club and Family Matters Club will host a pre-concert party starting at 4 p.m. on the upper lawn area of the park, adjacent to the street. The pre-party will feature a bounce house and vendor booths. Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be for sale at the Holiday Harbor snack bar, operated by the Family Matters Club, featuring hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy and other treats.

Also in the upper park area, the Fine Arts Guild will sponsor an oldies rock and roll and country band, “Moon Shot,” who will warm up the pre-concert crowd until the main event begins.

Due to the large attendance expected, parking in the adjacent Holiday Harbor parking lot will be restricted to golf carts and a limited number of handicapped parking spaces. Shuttles will be operating continuously from 4 p.m. through the evening.

Umbrellas, canopies, blankets and standard folding chairs will not be allowed in the amphitheater. Each person may bring a beach towel or low profile beach chair for seating in this area. Special seating will be available to Fine Arts Guild members and those needing special assistance. For more information, visit the Fine Arts Guild website at canyonlakeguild.com.
