The Canyon Lake Woman’s Club held its annual Mermaid Festival pre-party on June 14 at the home of Karen and Bruce Wallace. More than 40 members and guests enjoyed food and friendly games of competition that included shuffleboard, darts and Wii bowling. All proceeds from this event go toward the club’s fundraising efforts.
The Mermaid Festival will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Indian Beach.
Founded in 1972, the Woman’s Club is a non-profit, non-partisan, philanthropic service organization that was founded in 1972. In 2017, the club donated $15,000 in scholarships and $16,000 to local charities. This year, the club is on target to give away $21,000 in scholarships and $21,000 to local charities.
The Woman’s Club is open to all Canyon Lake women. Club meetings are held on the monthly on the third Wednesday in the Holiday Bay Room at the lodge. Vendor hour is from 9 to 10 a.m.; meeting begins at 10 a.m. Lunch is $14.
