Triathlon Club hosts Sprint Triathlon

Fifteen athletes participated in the Canyon Lake Triathlon Club’s Sprint Triathlon on May 19.

The race started at Indian Beach with a 750-meter swim in the east bay, followed by a 12-mile bike ride to the east gate (two loops) and a 3.1-mile run down Continental to Comanche (two loops).

Some participants completed the full course while others elected to complete one or two of the legs. Everyone who participated received their times.

“This was a great course for first-time triathletes to try out the sport, as well as seasoned triathletes seeking to test their open water swimming and transitioning skills and to test their equipment before longer races,” said Karin Cassidy.

The Canyon Lake Triathlon and Fitness Club promotes healthy lifestyles through swimming, cycling, running and other cross-training activities.

In addition to triathlon events and group practices, the club puts on a number of community and charity events over the course of the year, including the Community 5K/10k Fun Run, Tour de Canyon Lake bike ride and Paddle and Pedal Regatta.

Annual club dues are $30 for individuals and $40 per family.
