CL Library celebrates Memorial Day with giveaway

The Canyon Lake Library will celebrate Memorial Day this year with a book giveaway. A donation of several copies of “I Pledge Allegiance: A Recommitment to America” by D. K. Webb will be given away through an opportunity drawing.

Library visitors of all ages may put in a ticket for a chance to win one of 35 copies. The collection of tickets began Wednesday, May 16. The drawing will be held, Wednesday, May 23, at 4 p.m.

Play Day will be held on Monday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Cheryl from Movin’ N Music will be at the program at 10:15 for a half hour of movement and music.

Mrs. Blackford is back to Toddler Story Time with a dinosaur theme. Those attending are asked to bring their favorite dinosaur and to say a little about them. Story Time is at 11 a.m. with stories and a related craft. Children not yet reading can earn rewards for the Summer Ready Program by being read to.

Prizes are awarded for the toddler category. All adults are encouraged to be a reading role model and to earn their own adult reading prizes.

Today is the last Miss Ginny’s Story Time until August or September.

The Memorial Day Holiday has moved the dates up for the meeting of the book clubs. The Junior Book Club meets today at 4 p.m. The Adult Book Club meets on Monday, May 21, at 4 p.m.

Computer assistance and adult tutoring are available by prior arrangement. The Monday tutoring at 4 p.m. is more flexible and continues to be a service for specific need-to-learn computer techniques and procedures.

This service is for those who choose to learn or do something which requires close attention and instruction. A portable drive such as a USB is required for saving work and tutoring users must bring material to communicate their learning needs.

The library has a supply of free voter information guides related to the upcoming primary election on June 5. Additional information may be obtained at sos.ca.gov/elections.
