Chamber adds more hole-in-one prizes to tournament

The Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce invites the public to participate in its annual Golf Tournament and Ball Drop tomorrow, May 19, at the Canyon Lake Country Club.

This year’s tournament offers several hole-in-one prizes, including a 2018 Yamaha YXZ on hole 2, three-night golf vacation at French Lick Resort on hole #8, a golf cart on hole 11, $2,000 in complimentary golf on hole 15 and a signature head to toe Travis Mathew outfit plus a $500 online shopping spree on hole 17.

This year’s contests are Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin and Beat the Pro.

The tournament will have three flights: Open, Senior (60 years of age and older) and Jack & Jill (two women and two men). Registration starts at 10 a.m.; Shotgun start at 12 p.m., followed by the Ball Drop, dinner, awards and opportunity drawings.

The entry fee is $100 per player. Canyon Lake annual golf course members pay $65. Entry fee includes round of golf, golf cart fee and dinner. The cost to attend dinner only is $25.

The Ball Drop will take place following the tournament. Participants do not have to enter the tournament to participate and winners need not be present to win.

How does the Ball Drop work? Golf ball “numbers” are purchased for $10 each. The purchaser provides their contact information and receives one number per ball, not the actual golf ball.

Using a mechanical lift, the hopper filled with the numbered golf balls will be lifted and dropped all at once over a hole on the practice range. The purchaser of the numbered ball that lands in the bottom of the hole will receive half the money collected from the Ball Drop sales, up to $5,000.

Golf ball numbers are available now at Pack, Wrap and Post in the Towne Center and the Golf Pro Shop at the country club.

A portion of the proceeds will go toward the Canyon Lake Jr. Golf program. For more information, contact Alison Burrafato at 951-244-6124 or canyonlakechamber@outlook.com.
