Tickets on sale now for Bee Gees tribute concert

The Bee Gees tribute band Bee Gees Gold will perform on Saturday, May 19, at 7 p.m. in the Holiday Bay Room. The concert is presented by the Canyon Lake Fine Arts Guild. General Admission tickets are $25; VIP tickets are $45. Tickets can be purchased at the POA office and at the Fine Arts Guild website at canyonlakeguild.com.

Bee Gees Gold, featuring John Acosta (Barry), Daryl Borges (Robin) and Jeff Celengtano (Maurice) as the Brothers Gibb, is billed as the ultimate salute and tribute to the experience of seeing the Bee Gees in their prime, live once again.

The Bee Gees (Brothers Gibb) were originally formed in 1958 but enjoyed two distinct periods of recording and concert touring success. Writing most of their own songs, their initial hits were in the mid-60s to the early 70s with Robin’s clear vibrato in lead vocals with songs such as “I Started a Joke,” “Massachusetts,” “Words” and “I’ve Gotta Get a Message to You.”

They later reinvented themselves with Barry’s distinct R&B falsetto. That voice became their signature sound and a hallmark of the disco era of the late 70s and early 80s, scoring with such blockbuster hits as “Stayin’ Alive,” “Night Fever,” “How Deep is your Love” and “Jive Talkin’.”

Bee Gees Gold is the Fine Arts Guild’s second concert of the season. The three remaining concerts include “Margaritaville at the Lake” on July 21 at Holiday Harbor, Chicago tribute concert Aug. 25 at the lodge and Rod Stewart tribute concert on Nov. 3 at the lodge.

“Margaritaville at the Lake,” featuring a Jimmy Buffet tribute, is a free concert for the community. Tickets are on sale now for the Chicago and Rod Stewart tribute concerts. Tickets are $25 for General Admission; $45 for VIP tickets. Tickets for all Fine Arts Guild concerts are available at the POA office and the Fine Arts Guild’s website at canyonlakeguild.com.
