After Lunch Bunch

The game for Friday, Apr. 13, was Four Man Tin Whistle with the ALB Committee picking the teams. The results are as follows:

1st place: Marv Tweedy, Andy Quinn, Joe Strong and Joe Washle, 92.

2nd place: Sam Theodora, Chuck Hudson, Nick Valencia and Tom Fuhrman, 81.

The winners are of the Skins competition are Nick Valencia on hole 5, Chuck Hudson on hole 7, Bill Levis on hole 8, Joe Strong on hole 9, Curt Schneider on hole 12, Dennis Franks on 15 and Jim Musser on hole 18.

The Closest to the Pin awards went to Bill Levis on hole 8 and Sam Theodora on hole 15.

The ALB has a new award that started last Friday called the A-Men Corner Award. A-Men Corner are the 16, 17 and 18 holes. Last week Joe Washle was first to win the award with seven Tin Whistle points over these three holes. Jeff Roach was second with six Ti Whistle points.

Next week’s game will be Individual Tin Whistle with the players my picking their own foursomes.  The course record for this format is 31, scored on Aug. 26, 2016, by Bobby Gunter.

Now in its 38th year, the After Lunch Bunch offers a friendly game of golf every Friday throughout the year. The group plays an 18-hole tournament. Entries are open to all male golfers with an established handicap. The entry fee is $5 with an optional 25 maximum Skins game. Tee time is 10 a.m. with signups taken between 8:30 and 9:15 a.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club or by phone at 951- 249-4565 or 951-237-6102.

Men’s Golf Club

Members of the Canyon Lake Men’s Golf Club meet for play every Wednesday morning. Signups are taken between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club. In addition to Wednesday games, the club sponsors eight major tournaments throughout the year.

Dues include membership in the Southern California Golf Association. Canyon Lake residents and property owners age 18 and older are eligible. The club has added a Junior Membership Division for males under the age of 18. For more information, call Membership Director Greg Brack at 951-570-1239.

9ers Golf Club

The 9ers Golf Club is a member of the Women’s Southern California Golf Association. Ladies who are interested in playing golf and making new friends are invited to play; all levels of golfers are welcome.

Women’s Golf Club

The Women’s Golf Club is a member of Southern California Golf Association. The club meets on Tuesdays in the Magnolia Room at the country club. Players must check in before 7:30 a.m.; start time is 8 a.m. Major tournaments include the President’s Cup, Club Championship and Senior Tournament. Family Golf Club

The Family Golf Club promotes the sport of golf bringing together men, women and juniors in an atmosphere of education, camaraderie, fairness and competition in a friendly family oriented environment. The club hosts beginner and youth clinics, tournaments and social events throughout the year. The club’s official golf day is Wednesday at approximately 11:30 a.m. Some members schedule golf days on Mondays, Fridays or Saturdays at 11:30 a.m.

The tournament director works closely with Golf Pro Pat Kemball and his staff to assure tournaments are balanced. Family Golf Club is a member of the Southern California Golf Association. Adult Golf Lessons

The golf professional staff offers adult golf lessons seven days a week. Lessons are $35 for a 30-minute lesson; $50 for a one-hour lesson; $135 for three one-hour lessons and $200 for five one-hour lessons. Reservations are required. Junior Golf Lessons

Junior golf lessons are available for children ages seven to 17. Lessons are $25 per half hour. Reservations are taken at the Golf Pro Shop.

Golf Pro Shop

The Golf Pro Shop at the country club features the latest in golf clubs from Ping, Mizuno, Callaway and Titleist. It also stocks Nike, EP Pro, Antigua and Foot Joy golf apparel. Canyon Lake Property Owner’s Association members receive a 20 percent discount on women’s and men’s apparel.
