Chamber’s annual Ball Drop offers cash prize

The Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce will host its 2nd annual Ball Drop after its golf tournament on Saturday, May 19. The Ball Drop offers participants an opportunity to win half the money collected from the Ball Drop sales, up to $5,000.

Golf ball “numbers” can be purchased for $10 each at the Golf Pro Shop at the country club and at the chamber’s office and Pack, Wrap and Post in the Towne Center. The purchaser provides their contact information and receives one number per ball; not the actual golf ball.

Using a mechanical lift, the hopper filled with the numbered golf balls will be lifted and dropped all at once over a hole (cup) on the golf course practice range. The purchaser of the numbered ball that lands in the bottom of the hole is declared the winner. Participants do not need to be present to win.

The chamber’s golf tournament will be held earlier in the day and is open to the public. This year’s tournament has three flights: Open, Senior (60 years of age and older) and Jack & Jill (two women and two men). Registration is $90 per player before Apr. 20; $100 per player after Apr. 20. Canyon Lake annual golf course members pay only $65. Registration includes round of golf, golf cart fee and dinner. The cost to attend dinner only is $25. Registration starts at 10 a.m.; Shotgun start at 12:00 p.m., followed by the Ball Drop, dinner, awards and opportunity drawing. Sponsorship opportunities are available.

A portion of the proceeds will go toward the Canyon Lake Jr. Golf Program. For more information, contact Alison Burrafato at 951-244-6124.
