Winners of Men’s Golf Spring Kickoff announced

The Men’s Golf Club held its annual Spring Kickoff Tournament over two chilly days on St. Patrick’s Day weekend. There were two contests within the game. The Member-Member contest was a typical partner best ball match that paid Low Gross and three places Low Net. The winners are as follows:

A Flight

1st Low Gross: Dave Wagner and Shannon Vandruff

1st Low Net: Phil Coughlin and Bob Jacobson

2nd Low Net: Andrew Quinn and Tom Fuhrman

3rd Low Net: Chuck Newsom and Don Raworth.

B Flight

1st Low Gross: Bob Stinson and Carlos Ramirez

1st Low Net: Gary Bradford and Rocky Rogers

2nd Low Net: Don Norris and Barry Talbot

3rd Low Net: Joe Washle and Nick Valencia

The SCGA Four-Ball is also a partner best ball match over the two days of the tournament with specific rules and conditions that are controlled by the SCGA. The Four-Ball Gross winners were Brandon Mojarro and James Pearce who shot a six under par over the two day event.

The 1st place Low Net winners, Chris Wilkeson and Bryon Connick with a score of 126, will go on to represent the club in October at the SCGA Four-Ball Net Championship to be held at California Country Club inWhittier.

2nd place: Billy Furlong and Jon Keigwin

3rd place: Ron Bemoll and Bob Shuman

Golfers celebrated the weekend event at an awards banquet at the country club on Sunday while enjoying a meal of corn beef and cabbage.

Members of the Canyon Lake Men’s Golf Club meet for play every Wednesday morning. Signups are taken between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club. In addition to Wednesday games, the club sponsors eight major tournaments throughout the year. Dues include membership in the Southern California Golf Association. Canyon Lake residents and property owners age 18 and older are eligible. The club has added a Junior Membership Division for males under the age of 18.
