Canyon Lakers travel to Florida for tournament

Canyon Lakers Orlando and Ann Lopez, Kent and Shari Skidmore and Ron and Leigh Martel traveled to Winter Haven, Florida, where the men competed in the Senior Softball Tournament of Champions Feb. 8 through Feb. 11.

The Weakened Warriors are a local team that qualified for this elite tournament by winning the Winter World Championships (60+ AAA) in Phoenix, Arizona, last season. In this event, they were able to defeat last year’s champions from Virginia and this year’s number one seeded team from North Carolina but fell short on the last day. During their travels, they always have a great time together and usually make time for a side trip. “Most of all, us senior citizens are just pleased to still compete at this level,” said Ron.
