Roadrunners enjoy group trip to Palm Desert

Thirty-eight members of the Canyon Lake Roadrunners Club enjoyed an annual trip to Emerald Desert RV Resort in Palm Desert Jan.17 through Jan. 22.

On the afternoon of their arrival, the resort hosted snacks and music by the pool. Later in the evening, the club’s committee, headed by Rob and Pat Smith, spread out a pasta dinner that was followed by group games.

Over the next few days, members enjoyed planned activates that included golfing at Tahquitz Creek Golf Course, nine-hole Putting Challenge, Ring Toss and Washer Toss.

When members weren’t at planned activities, they enjoyed the mild weather of Coachella Valley where some shopped and others gambled at the casino, tested their skills at a local shooting range and enjoyed the resort and its grounds.

The group enjoyed a farewell dinner on Sunday. Arrangements were finalized to repeat the trip again next year.

Any resident who owns an RV is welcome to join the Roadrunners Club. Club dinner meetings are held monthly on the second Tuesday at the lodge during winter months and at Roadrunner Park during summer months. Social hour begins at 5 p.m., dinner is served at 6 p.m. In addition to monthly dinner meetings, the club takes six to eight group trips per year. More than 125 members belong to the club. Annual membership is $5 per person.
