This past week was a sad one for the golf community. Canyon Lake resident Lee Lilly passed away on the morning of Jan. 27. The 93-year-old was a member of the After Lunch Bunch for more than 30 years, member and past president of the Men’s Golf Club, member of the Canyon Lake Association of Past Presidents (CLAPPS), member of the Over the Hill Gang and a longtime member and one of the founders of the Tuesday Work Group. Lee played golf right up until his passing.

According to After Lunch Bunch President Jim Magill, Lee was one of the golfers who designed and built the fountain that still sits today in front of the country club.

“I’m really going to miss my golfing buddy,” said Jim. “I traveled the county in an RV twice with Lee and our wives. We spent a lot of time together.”

Golfer Joe Kamashian said, “Lee has made many contributions to the golf course over his many years here in Canyon Lake. He was a pleasure to golf with and will be sadly missed.”

A Celebration of Life will be held for Lee on Monday, Feb. 26 at 3 p.m. at the country club. For information, contact Jim Magill at 951-244-5030.
