Harrigans celebrate 60th wedding anniversary

Canyon Lakers Dave and Jean Harrigan celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Jan. 25. The couple met while attending junior high school in Springfield, Massachusetts. They have three adult children who live in various parts of the country.

Dave served in the United States Air Force for 26 years and worked another 12 years with Lockheed Martin.

Dave and Jean were always active in community activities. Following retirement, Dave became president of the Grand Lake Little League in Colorado and served as head coach for the Grand County Champions in 2000. Jean served as head scorekeeper, and was very active with the town’s chamber of commerce.

The couple moved to Canyon Lake in 2009. They are active in the Tennis Club and Senior Chair Volleyball Club. For several years, Dave has been coordinating the Veterans Brigade golf cart entry in the Fiesta Day Parade.

When asked what the secret is for their successful marriage. Dave offered only two words: “ Yes, Dear. The couple plan to celebrate their anniversary with a celebrity tour in Palm Springs.
