Community invited to Golf Rules Seminar

The community is invited to a Golf Rules Seminar on Tuesday, Jan. 9, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club. The Canyon Lake Men’s Golf Club is hosting this free event for Canyon Lake residents interested in the sport to learn more about local golf rules and important rule changes. Signups are taken at the Golf Pro Shop at the country club. Residents may also sign up by emailing Greg Brack at rgbrack@msn.com.

A question and answer period will following the presentation. Keynote speakers will be Judy Thompson, USGA-SCGA official, and Pat Kemball, Canyon Lake’s golf professional.

Judy has served on the Western American Golf Association (WAGA) and Women’s Southern California Golf Association (WSCGA) for more than 20 years. She served on the board for WAGA and went on to serve on the board for WSCGA and held the title of Rules Director for multiple years. She was later invited to serve on the SC-PGA Rules Committee. She was a respected and valued member of the Rules Education Committee for many years.

Pat has been the golf professional at the Canyon Lake Golf and Country Club for seven years. In 2015, Pat won FORE Magazine’s “Favorite PGA Professional.” He is highly regarded both in the community and the golf industry for his professional demeanor and vast range of knowledge of the game. Before joining Canyon Lake, Pat worked as the golf professional at the former SCGA Golf Course in Murrieta, California.

The Canyon Lake Men’s Golf Club was established in 1971 and is a member of the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA). This member-only club currently has nearly 300 golfing and social members and sponsors several major tournaments throughout the year. Club members enjoy regular 18-hole play on Wednesday mornings. The club organizes occasional inter-club play and helps support both SCGA Thursday and Saturday Team Play teams.
