The Family Matters Club held its 4th annual Santa Letter and Gift Giveaway. The club answered 78 letters from children in Canyon Lake and the surrounding areas. Each child who wrote to Santa received a custom letter back along with a package of reindeer food with instructions to sprinkle the glittered oatmeal on their lawn to help attract reindeer on Christmas Eve.

In addition to Santa letters, the club fulfilled gift wishes for 36 children in Canyon Lake. The project was headed up by Shawna Bowen, founder of the Family Matters Club, who spent hours shopping for the gifts and wrapping them. The Family Matters Club elves, Kenzie and Kivah Duran, Trey Bowen and Gracie and Allie Robbins, assisted with delivering the surprise gifts.

“The kids had such fun delivering to the other kids,” said Shawna. “The Family Matters Club would like to thank everyone.”

The Family Matters Club is open to all residents, young and old, kids or no kids. The club puts on several events throughout the year to benefit the community and raise funds for philanthropic donations. Events are free or low-cost to attend. The club is seeking members of the community to be a part of its team. There are several board positions open, including club photographer and vendor and donation coordinator. Volunteers for the various events the club puts on for the community are always welcome. For more information, visit the club’s Facebook page, email clfmclub@aol.com, or call 714-394-4885.
