The Canyon Lake Golf Course fall/winter hours are 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Daily rates are $39. Golfers are reminded that all players must check-in and pay at the Golf Pro Shop at all times when playing on the course. To make a tee time reservation, call the Pro Shop at 951-246-1782. Golf Pro Shop

The Golf Pro Shop at the country club features the latest in golf clubs from Ping, Mizuno, Callaway and Titleist. It also stocks Nike, EP Pro, Antigua and Foot Joy golf apparel. Canyon Lake Property Owner’s Association members receive a 20 percent discount on women’s and men’s apparel.

Women’s Golf Club

The club’s annual Christmas tournament and installation is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 12. The 9-hole shotgun will start at 8:30 a.m. Lunch, annual awards, money tree and installation of 2018 Board of Directors will follow the tournament. Individual teams are asked to donate toys this year to the Mattress Firm Foster Kids Program. The entry fee is $35. per person; lunch only is $20. Those not playing in the tournament are invited to join the festivities at 11:30 a.m. at the country club.

The Canyon Lake Women’s Golf Club was established in 1971 and is a member of the Women’s Southern California Golf Association. The club meets on Tuesdays in the Magnolia Room at the country club. Players must check in before 7:30 a.m.; start time is 8 a.m. In the spring and summer, the club meets at 7 a.m. Major tournaments include the President’s Cup, Club Championship and Senior Tournament. Family Golf Club

The Family Golf Club promotes the sport of golf bringing together men, women and juniors in an atmosphere of education, camaraderie, fairness and competition in a friendly family oriented environment. The club hosts beginner and youth clinics, tournaments and social events throughout the year. The club’s official golf day is Wednesday at approximately 11:30 a.m. Some members schedule golf days on Mondays, Fridays or Saturdays at 11:30 a.m.

The tournament director works closely with Golf Pro Pat Kemball and his staff to assure tournaments are balanced. Family Golf Club is a member of the Southern California Golf Association. It holds open meetings the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club. For membership information, call Kevin O’Leary at 951-818-3361. Adult Golf Lessons

The golf professional staff offers adult golf lessons seven days a week. Lessons cost $35 for a 30-minute lesson; $50 for a one-hour lesson; $135 for three one-hour lessons and $200 for five one-hour lessons. Reservations are required. 9ers Golf Club

The 9ers Golf Club is a member of the Women’s Southern California Golf Association. Ladies who are interested in playing golf and making new friends are invited to play with the 9ers Golf Club; all levels of golfers are welcome. The club meets at 8:30 a.m. on Thursdays in the Magnolia Room at the country club and tees off at 9 a.m. For more information, call Linda Kielty at 951-746-2250.

 Men’s Golf Club

The Canyon Lake Men’s Golf Club has a membership of more than 250. Members meet for play every Wednesday morning. Signups are taken in the Magnolia Room at the country club between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m. In addition to Wednesday games, the club sponsors eight major tournaments throughout the year. Dues include membership in the Southern California Golf Association. Canyon Lake residents and property owners age 18 and older are eligible. After Lunch Bunch

Twenty-eight golfers participated in last week’s game of Three Best Balls of the Foursome. The winners are as follows:

  • 1st place: Jeff Roach, Bill Levis, Nick Valencia and Joe Washle, 193.
  • 2nd place: Leroy Madera, Hugh Wagoner, Jim Musser and Pete Mortensen, 198.
  • 3rd place: Sam Theodora, Bill Hallahan, Chuck Hudson and blind draw Joe Washle, 201.

The course record for this game is 182 and was scored on Mar. 9, 2016 by Harry Larson, Don Norris, Dave and Tom D’Amato.

The five winners of the Skins game are: Bill Levis on holes 6 and 16; Jeff Roach on hole 7; Sam Kim on hole 8; Gordon Westby on hole 9 and Jim Musser on hole 12.

Special awards were given for the players “closest to the pin” on holes 8 and 15.  Walt Popper was the closest to the pin on hole 8; Bill Hallahan was closest on hole 15.  Walt and Bill were no present when the awards were announced, so the awards went to runner-ups Pete Mortensen and Tom D’Amato.

Now in its 38th year, the After Lunch Bunch offers a friendly game of golf every Friday throughout the year. The group plays an 18-hole tournament. Entries are open to all male golfers with an established handicap. The entry fee is $5 with an optional 25 maximum Skins game. Tee time is 10 a.m. with signups taken between 8:30 and 9:15 a.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club or by phone at 951- 249-4565 or 951-237-6102.

Junior Golf Lessons

Junior golf lessons are available for children ages seven to 17. The cost is $25 per half hour. Reservations are taken at the Golf Pro Shop.
