Forty-four members of the Canyon Lake Travel Club departed for Playa Mazatlan Beach Hotel on Oct. 9. It had been 12 years since the club had visited this destination. There are several generations of workers who are a part of this hotel family and much has changed since the club’s last visit. Each generation has put its mark on the design of the hotel. It has grown from the original 40 rooms to 441 rooms, employing more than 400 people.

“Since our last visit, the family has added water features for children, a zip line, gorgeous pools with waterfalls and spas. second large palapa area on the beach and a sports bar now graces the second floor,” said member Suzi Delia.

Many members of the club ventured out to take advantage of the activities offered. Some went on city tours, parasailed, rented catamarans, toured Deer Island, visited the aquarium, golfed, walked the beach and enjoyed sitting under a palapa sipping a cocktail.

Some members were lucky enough to be given a personal tour of the hotel and grounds.

“The hotel provided our group with quality service and a great deal of friendly hospitality,” said Suzi. “The Playa Mazatlán was a great place to visit after all these years”
