Clubs invited to decorate holiday tree for community

The community decorated holiday trees have been a Canyon Lake tradition for many years. Clubs, organizations and businesses are invited to spread holiday cheer by purchasing a live or artificial Christmas tree and decorating it for the community.

Trees will be placed near the main gate and on the causeway. Spaces are limited.

Beginning Nov. 1, sanctioned clubs and member organizations can reserve a tree space. After Nov. 15, the remaining spaces will be available for residents and businesses to reserve.

Guidelines for assignment and decorating Christmas trees for the community are:

First priority for assignment of trees for decorating will be made to POA sanctioned clubs and member organizations.

Priority will be on a first come, first served basis.

Trees will be purchased by the club or individual sponsor and be a minimum of five feet tall. Artificial trees are acceptable.

Lights and decorations will be put on the tree by the sponsor. Lights must be LED. Sturdy, non-breakable ornaments are recommended.

Signs placed on the tree must not exceed 2 1/2 feet by 2 1/2 feet. o part of the sign should fall within 12 inches of the curb.

Decorated trees will be picked up by Operations between Nov. 27 and Dec. 1. Pickup location must be in Canyon Lake. Trees will be returned between Jan. 2 and Jan. 5.

Trees will remain “dark” until the official tree lighting at the lodge on Dec. 3.
