Santana tribute band entertains full house at lodge

The Canyon Lake Lodge was filled with a large, enthusiastic audience celebrating the music of Carlos Santana and his decades of iconic hits last Saturday. With “Smooth Sounds of Santana,” the Canyon Lake Fine Arts Guild has successfully continued their series of popular tribute artists performing for the community.

“Smooth Sounds of Santana” featured renditions of classics such as “Evil Ways,” “Black Magic Woman,” “Oye Como Va,” and of course, “Smooth.” The seven talented musicians captured the multicultural fusion of rock, salsa, jazz and blues. This unique combination has contributed to making Santana a rock radio mainstay and fan favorite for decades.

Fine Arts Guild President Travis Montgomery said, “We received such positive feedback from our very kind audience. They came to hear Santana’s greatest hits played by the most talented musicians, and also to just have some fun. It seems they did just that!”

The Fine Arts Guild will finish the year with the Beach Boys Christmas, starring “Catch a Wave,” on Dec. 2 at the lodge. Tickets are on sale now.

Over the past two years, the series included tribute artists for the Eagles, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Willie Nelson, Elton John, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Fleetwood Mac. “Almost every one has filled the lodge to capacity,” said Fine Arts Guild Program Director Ron Martel.

At the concert, the Fine Arts Guild’s 2018 season of performing artists at the lodge was announced. Tribute acts include Billy Joel on Mar. 3, Bee Gees on May 19, Chicago on Aug. 25 and Rod Stewart on Nov. 3.

By popular demand, the Fine Arts Guild will host another free summer concert for the community. The concert is set for July 21 and will feature a tribute to Jimmy Buffet. The Fine Art Guild invites the community to join them for a “Margaritaville” evening on July 21 at Holiday Harbor Park for a free concert featuring a tribute to Jimmy Buffet.

The tribute acts are determined primarily from audience surveys the Fine Arts Guild conducts. “With such a changing demographic in our community, these are the acts Canyon Lakers want to see,” said Ron. “We’re pleased to deliver our concerts with the most talented performers for the same low price for each event.”

Information on 2018 Guild Membership and tickets will be announced next week. Ticket purchases and information about all the Fine Arts Guild’s events and membership will be published on its website.

Tickets to The Beach Boys Christmas and 2018 events are $25 for general admission tickets and $45 for VIP tickets. As these events regularly sell out, the Fine Arts Guild recommends those who wish to attend to get their tickets early. Tickets can be purchased at canyonlakeguild.com and by calling 800-838-3006. General admission tickets can be purchased at the POA office. The POA excepts checks only for Fine Arts Guild concerts.
