Cub Scout Pack 346 hike, race, learn about space

The 2017/2018 year for Cub Scout Pack 346 has been a great success. The Pack welcomed over 10 new scouts to the group at the opening “Shooting for the Stars” Pack Meeting.

Joining the excitement of the solar eclipse, the boys learned about space and astronomy during the meeting.

The Pack’s annual fall campout was held at Lake Perris in September. The scouts hiked, explored and held a campfire under the stars. The Webelos and Bear Scouts completed their requirements by planning and cooking meals for the entire Pack.

The Pack’s annual “Rain Gutter Regatta” was held Oct. 9 at Lamb’s Fellowship Church. Scouts designed and build boats to race on Scout wind power. Awards were given for the best design boat and fastest races across the six dens. The fastest in each den then raced for the Pack Overall trophies.

Bear Scout Baron Sidwell came in first place, Wolf Scout Liam McColley earned second place and Arrow Scout Aidan McColley placed third.

Cub Scout Pack 346 is excited to announce it surpassed their $10,000 in popcorn sales goal this year. They also raised more than $300 for “Popcorn for the Military.” Pack 346 would like to thank all those in the community who purchased popcorn over the past month at its booth at Stater Bros. in Canyon Hills.

Cub Scout pack 346 accepts new Scouts throughout the year. The Pack serves Canyon Lake, Canyon Hills and Tuscany Hills and is for boys in kindergarten through 5th grades.

The Cub Scouting program has 10 purposes related to the overall mission of the Boy Scouts of America – to build character, learn citizenship, and develop personal fitness: Character development, spiritual growth, good citizenship, sportsmanship and fitness, family understanding, respectful relationships, personal achievement, friendly service, fun and adventure and preparation for Boy Scouts.
