Here’s what’s happening at the library in October

In honor of Fire Safety Week, Oct. 8 through Oct. 14, local firemen will be on hand for Miss Ginny’s Story Time on Friday, Oct. 20, at 11:30 a.m. to teach fire safety techniques and give the children a tour of the fire engine.

To help children get into the spirit of Halloween, Petals the Clown will be face painting at the library on Wednesday, Oct. 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. This is a free program.

The Writers Club, a program established for middle school children who enjoy creative writing, meets on Mondays at 3:30 p.m.

Toddler Story Time, a program for children three and younger, meets in the Kids Cove at the library every Monday at 11 a.m. Parents are invited to stay and socialize with other parents while the children enjoy play time.

Roots to Grow Tutoring is offered on Wednesdays at 4 p.m. and Saturdays at 10 a.m.  The free sessions are held by student volunteers for children in lower grades. Participating students should bring with them the work they are having difficulties with or something to guide the tutors in where assistance is needed.

The Riverside County Library System has literacy programs for adults and a tutor service available online for children and adults including G.E.D. and resume assistance.

The Canyon Lake Library offers free books, large print books, free internet access, reading programs, book clubs and more. All programs are free to the public and do not require library membership. Membership is required to check out materials.

The library is located inside the city hall building. Hours are Mondays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The library is closed Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. The Canyon Lake Library is a member of the Riverside County Library System and honors cards and returns from other affiliated libraries.
