Beginning Nov. 1, the Canyon Lake Golf Course fall/winter hours will be 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Golfers are reminded that all players must check-in and pay at the Golf Pro Shop at all times when playing on the course. To make a tee time reservation, call the Pro Shop at 951-246-1782. Reservations may be made seven days in advance. Annual golf memberships are available to both residents and non-residents.

Golf Course Closure

The golf course will be closed Oct. 9 through Oct. 29 for overseeding. The Golf Pro Shop will also be closed during this time. To protect the seedlings and allow the new grass to become established, golf cart drivers are asked to stay on the path for approximately three-weeks after the re-opening.

Membership

Adult, junior, non-resident and family memberships are available. There are nine annual memberships left for non Canyon Lake residents for $249 per month for ages over 35, $149 per month for ages 18 to 35 and $83 per month for ages 17 and under. Adult/Child Tournament

Share your love of golf with your child or grandchild by participating in the Canyon Lake Golf Course’s first annual Adult/Child Tournament on Sunday, Oct. 8, at 2 p.m. The tournament is for adults and children partners ages five to 17. Entry fee is $30 for current annual golf members and $50 for non-annual members. Registration includes the green fee, barbecue and prizes. To register, call 951-246-1782.

9ers Golf Club

The 9ers Golf Club is a member of the Women’s Southern California Golf Association. Ladies who are interested in playing golf and making new friends are invited to play with the 9ers Golf Club; all levels of golfers are welcome. The club meets at 8:30 a.m. on Thursdays in the Magnolia Room at the country club and tees off at 9 a.m. For more information, call Linda Kielty at 951-746-2250.

Women’s Golf Club

The Canyon Lake Women’s Golf Club was established in 1971 and is a member of the Women’s Southern California Golf Association. The club meets on Tuesdays in the Magnolia Room at the country club. Players must check in before 7:30 a.m.; start time is 8 a.m. In the spring and summer, the club meets at 7 a.m. Major tournaments include President’s Cup, Club Championship and Senior Tournament. Men’s Golf

The Canyon Lake Men’s Golf Club is presently 280 members strong. Members meet for play every Wednesday morning. Signups are taken in the Magnolia Room at the country club between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m. In addition to Wednesday games, the club sponsors eight major tournaments throughout the year. Dues include membership in the Southern California Golf Association. Canyon Lake residents and property owners age 18 and older are eligible.

After Lunch Bunch

With the Canyon Lake Golf Course closing for overseeding Oct. 9 through Oct. 29, the After Lunch Bunch will be traveling to the Fallbrook Golf Course on Oct. 13 and Dos Lagos Golf Course on Oct. 20 and Oct. 27. Anyone with a handicap can enter. The entry fee for all three games is $120 per person; $480 per foursome. To sign up, contact Jim Magill at 951-237-6102.

The After Bunch Lunch returns to Canyon Lake Nov. 3. The format will be Four Man Tin Whistle with the Committee picking the foursomes. Nov. 3 is also the date the club returns to its winter tee times of 10 a.m. Signups will be taken in the Magnolia Room between 8:45 and 9:30AM and over the phone at 951-249-4565 and 951-237-6102.

The results of last weeks Two Best Balls of the Threesome are as follows:

 1st place: Bill Hallahan Tom D’Amato and Bob Clow, 120.

2nd place: Jeff Roach, Oscar Rowland and Pete Mortensen, 122.

3rd place: Bobby Gunter, Dennis Franks and Hub Watson, 124.

The seven winners of the Skins game are: Oscar Rowland, holes 1 and 11; Joe Strong, hole 4; Tom D’Amato, hole 6; Bobby Gunter, hole 7; Jeff Roach, hole 17; Lance Brown, hole 18.

Now in its 38th year, the After Lunch Bunch offers a friendly game of golf every Friday throughout the year. The group plays an 18-hole tournament. Entries are open to all male golfers with an established handicap. The entry fee is $5 with an optional 25 maximum Skins game. Tee time is 8 a.m. with signups taken between 6:30 to 7:15 a.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club or by phone at 951- 249-4565 or 951-237-6102.

Family Golf Club

The Family Golf Club promotes the sport of golf bringing together men, women and juniors in an atmosphere of education, camaraderie, fairness and competition in a friendly family oriented environment.

The club hosts beginner and youth clinics, tournaments and social events throughout the year. The club’s official golf day is Wednesday at approximately 11:30 a.m. Some members schedule golf days on Mondays, Fridays or Saturdays at 11:30 a.m.

The tournament director works closely with Golf Pro Pat Kemball and his staff to assure tournaments are balanced. Family Golf Club is a member of the Southern California Golf Association. It holds open meetings the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club. For membership information, call Kevin O’Leary at 951-818-3361. Adult Golf Lessons

The golf professional staff offers adult golf lessons seven days a week. Lessons cost $35 for a 30-minute lesson; $50 for a one-hour lesson; $135 for three one-hour lessons and $200 for five one-hour lessons. Reservations are required. Junior Golf Lessons

Junior golf lessons are available for children ages seven to 17. The cost is $25 per half hour. Reservations are taken at the Golf Pro Shop.
