Canyon Lake Tennis Club hosted an Open Junior Tennis Tournament on Aug. 11 and 12. Students from several local schools, including Santa Rosa Academy, Canyon Lake Middle School and Temescal Canyon High School, participated in the tournament.
Twenty-seven junior tennis players ages eight to 16 competed against each other and some hard fought battles were won. “All the players did a wonderful job and everyone had a great time,” said Kellie Welty whose son Nick played in the tournament.
This is Santa Rosa Academy’s first time competing in a tennis tournament. The school didn’t have a tennis team until this year. Santa Rosa Academy Coach and Canyon Lake Tennis Club Junior Tournament Coordinator Melissa Albright said she is very proud of all the kids who have been working hard all summer. They look forward to competing in many more tournaments.
