Choraleers announce new director

The Canyon Lake Choraleers are pleased to announce a new direction under the enthusiastic leadership of Lorilee Bajema, daughter of residents Dutch and Patsy Bajema.

Lorilee studied music theory/composition and sacred music in the U.S. before moving to England for 25 years. While in England, Lorilee received her teaching credential and LTCL Licentiate degree in music education from Trinity College London.

Lorilee is a conductor, pianist, singer and teacher who has performed with many choral groups throughout her career, including Halle Choir, Naples Philharmonic Chorus and The Bach Ensemble. She has sung under the lofty batons of conductors, including James Levine, Kent Nagano and Sir Mark Elder.

Lorilee is the musical director for The Colony Chorus in Murrieta and serves as director of music at Grace Presbyterian Church in Temecula.  She said she looks forward to the upcoming season with the Choraleers and invites other enthusiastic singers to join in her joy of singing.

The Choraleers “Launch Party” will be held on Aug. 28 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Council Chamber at city hall. The party will feature an unveiling of next season’s repertoire and a meet and greet social so everyone gets a chance to get to know one another.

The Choraleers is open to enthusiastic singers in Canyon Lake and surrounding area. The group meets on Mondays from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Council Chamber at city hall.
