The Friends of the Canyon Lake Library thank community members for both donating and adopting books from the library’s Buck-A-Bag Book Sale. The week long sale raised $267. The proceeds will go towards library programs and materials.
Three hundred pairs of glasses for viewing the solar eclipse on Monday, Aug. 21, have all been distributed. The glasses, received from a grant through the Space Science Institute through the generosity and support of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, Google, NASA and Research Corporation, were provided free of charge to the attendees of the Space Racers Science Program and Eclipse Party hosted by the library. The remaining glasses were donated to the Friends of the Canyon Lake Library who made them available to the community for $1 per pair.
The Canyon Lake Library has a copy of the Eclipse Activity Guide, produced by NASA, available to search and copy information from. Within the last few pages of the 47-page guide is a list of NASA eclipse website resources.
Library programs for August include Toddler Story Time on Mondays at 11 a.m., Miss Ginny’s Story Time for Preschoolers on Friday, Aug. 25, at 11:30 a.m. and Tutoring Programs on Wednesdays at 4 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m.
The Writers Club for middle school children will start up again on Sept. 11 at 3:30 p.m. This is a creative writing group who work with many different forms of literature including stories and poetry. It began during the Summer Reading Program and is now being extended as an after school program.
All Canyon Lake Library programs are free and open to the public.
The Canyon Lake Library will be open Labor Day weekend and closed on Monday to observe the holiday.
The library is located inside the city hall building. Hours are Mondays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The library is closed Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
The Canyon Lake Library is a member of the Riverside County Library System and honors cards and returns from other affiliated libraries.
