Annual Paddle & Pedal Regatta set to cruise tomorrow

Paddlers and pedalers are invited to gather for the 6th annual Paddle & Pedal Regatta on Saturday. This free event, hosted by the Canyon Lake Fitness Club, starts at 10 a.m. at Indian Beach. Registration is not required.

The group will cruise from Indian Beach to the East Port boat launch and back, then enjoy a club sponsored barbecue.

Everyone with a paddle board, kayak, canoe, pedal boat or non-powered paddle vessel is invited to join the non-competitive group cruise of the East Bay. Motorized boats are not allowed.

No board? No problem. A limited number of rental paddleboards will be available on a first come, first served basis.

Following the group paddle, participants are invited to stay for a club sponsored burger barbecue, which will be available to those who donate $5 per person. Those attending the barbecue are asked to bring a side dish to share.

Funds collected from the barbecue will be donated to Rady Children’s Hospital in an effort to help fight childhood cancer. The club will also hold a raffle as part of the fundraiser.

Volunteers are needed to help sell raffle tickets and to help set up at 8 a.m. and tear down at approximately 2 p.m. For volunteer information, email canyonlaketriclub.com.

The Fitness and Triathlon Club promotes healthy lifestyles through swimming, cycling, running and other cross training activities. The annual Tour de Canyon Lake and Paddle & Pedal Regatta are among the community events the club hosts.

Annual club dues are $30 for individuals and $40 for families. Membership is not a requirement to participate in fitness events.
