Michelle’s Place to host Celebration of Life golf event

Michelle’s Place, a breast cancer resource center serving Canyon Lake and nearby cities, is hosting its 16th annual Celebration of Life Golf Tournament on Friday, Aug. 26, at Temecula Creek Inn, 44501 Rainbow Canyon Rd., Temecula. The tournament is one of two primary fundraisers for Michelle’s Place since 2001.

The tournament will start with a putting contest before teeing off with a shotgun start. There will be mini competitions at various holes. The tournament also features Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin competitions.

Lunch, awards and silent auction will follow the tournament.

The entry fee is $135 per person and includes breakfast and lunch. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.

On Sept. 24, Michelle’s Place will hold its inaugural Walk of Hope at Vail Headquarters in Temecula. This event includes live music, food and awards. Registration for breast cancer survivors is $15.

Registration for ages 13 and older is $30; $40 the day of the event. Child registration for ages four to 12 is $15. Children ages three and under are free. Online registration is available at michellesplace.org.

Registration includes a T-shirt, walk medal and post race entertainment. Participants who turn in registrations after Sept. 11 will not be guaranteed a walk T-shirt.

Awards will be given in the 5K for Best Team T-shirts, Best Stroller Decorations and Best Dog Costume. Awards will also be given for the highest fundraising team or individual.

Participation in the Walk of Hope helps to provide free services and resources to individuals impacted by cancer in the community.

The funds raised through the Walk of Hope fundraiser go directly to Michelle’s Place to help provided the necessary support services to women and families dealing with breast cancer and to individuals with any cancer in need of support.

Michelle’s Place, located at 27645 Jefferson Ave., Ste. 117, Temecula, was founded in 2001. The center’s mission is to provide emotional and educational support to those touched with breast cancer and facilitate breast health care services.
