Approximately 100 people attended the annual Canyon Lake Association of Men (CLAMS) picnic on Wednesday, July 19, at Holiday Harbor Park. In addition to food and fellowship, CLAMS President Harry Larson presented Kevin Cochran of CalPortland with a certificate of appreciation for his company’s generous donation of $1,000 to the club. The donation will help to further the objectives of the club, which are to provide cultural improvements and philanthropic services to the Canyon Lake community and nearby communities.

Since its inception more than 40 years ago, the clubs has donated to most sanctioned clubs within Canyon Lake, including the POA and city, Veteran’s Day event, Emergency Preparedness Committee and other entities as needs arise. Each year the club gives support to local food banks, veterans, seniors, the animal shelter and other organizations on an as needed basis. The CLAMS also awards two scholarships annually to deserving Canyon Lake students to help with their future college needs.

This year, the club is selling “Happy as a CLAM” T-shirts and polo shirts. The proceeds from the sales will go towards the club philanthropy projects.

With a current membership of approximatly 100 men, the club is always looking for more members. Most club meetings are held on the first Monday of the month at the senior center. Dinner is always served. The next monthly meeting will be held Aug. 7 at the senior center. Cocktails start at 5:30. Dinner will be served up by Mark Inkrote and his team at 6 p.m.
