Samantha “Sam” Gunter graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), a private research university in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with a PH.D. in electrical engineering.

Sam has always had ambition and drive. She was valedictorian of her 8th grade class and, in high school, she was a member of the golf and bowling teams. She went to the bowling state finals four consecutive years. Sam graduated high school in the top three percent of her class with a 5.8 GPA.

After high school, Sam attended the undergraduate engineering program at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) where she graduated with highest honors.

After earning an electrical engineering degree from UIUC, Sam was accepted into the doctoral program at MIT. Upon completion of her Ph.D., Sam accepted a job offer from General Motors. She currently works in the General Motors Global Propulsion Systems headquarters in Pontiac, Michigan.
Sam’s parents, Pei Pei and Bobby Gunter, and brother, Jesse Beecher, are residents of Canyon Lake. They traveled to Massachusetts to attend her graduation.

“We are really proud of the hard work she put in,” said Pei Pei. Bobby said, “It goes to show what hard work and persistence can accomplish.”
