In Memoriam: Dale Willingham

Dale Willingham peaceably passed away at his home in Canyon Lake on Wednesday, July 5, from cancer. He was buried at Riverside National Cemetery with military honors on Wednesday, July 12. A celebration of life in his honor was held at the Canyon Lake Country Club on Thursday, July 13.

Dale was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on January 5, 1939. He moved to the California bay area in 1959. He played major league baseball for the Cleveland Indians triple A league for two years before being called up to the majors in 1963.

Dale was in the Insurance business after baseball for over 45 years. He established Willingham Insurance more than 35 years ago.

Dale met his wife Linda 25 years ago. They have been married 18 years.

Dale moved to Canyon Lake in the late 80s. He was a member of the Finance Committee, Travel Club and elected director of the Canyon Lake Men’s Golf Club.

Dale leaves behind his wife Linda, son Mike, daughter Laura, stepsons Mark Marlow and Jay Weinstein, stepdaughters Terry Moh and Jackie White and numerous grandchildren.
