Family Matters Club to host upcoming events

The Canyon Lake Family Matters Club has a few events planned for the months of July and August.

The club will tour the Krispy Kreme Doughnuts in Menifee on July 26 and Aug 2 at 2:30 p.m. Space is limited to 15 children per tour. Attendees will receive a mini doughnut and a Krispy Kreme Hat.

On Sunday, July 30, at 5 p.m. at the senior center, the club will host a free spaghetti dinner for seniors.

Dinner will include salad, spaghetti, meatballs, garlic bread and dessert. Attendees should bring their own drink.

The club will host a snack bar and kid’s zone on Aug. 5 at Holiday Harbor during “Hot Summer Night,” a community-wide event hosted by the Canyon Lake Fine Arts Guild.

On Aug. 19, the Family Matters Club will  host a Western Barbecue from 3 to 6 p.m. at Indian Beach. A spokesperson for the club said, “The afternoon will be filled with fun from the kid’s section to the contest.”

The event will feature a kid’s zone with pony rides, jumpers, petting zoo, mechanical bull, watermelon eating contest, country music, square dance demonstration and lessons, face painting and craft and game booths.

Pat’s Famous BBQ will offer full and small lunch plates. Full barbecue plates with the option of tri-tip, chicken or pork served with three sides and a bottle of water is $15; small plate with the option of a hot dog or hamburger with a side of macaroni and cheese or chips with a bottle of water is $6.

At the Woman’s Club annual Mermaid Festival on Aug. 26 at Indian Beach, the Family Matters Club will host a section for kids that will include games and jumpers.

The Family Matters Club is open to all residents, young and old, kids or no kids. The club puts on several events throughout the year to benefit the community and raise funds for philanthropic donations. Events are free or low-cost to attend. For more information, call 714-394-4885.
