The Canyon Lake Triathlon and Fitness Club is hosting its annual Summer Triathlon Barbecue on Wednesday, July 19, at Indian Beach.

The transition area will open at 5:30 p.m. The kid’s triathlon will start at 6 p.m. followed by the adult Super Sprint Triathlon at 6:30 p.m. The pot-luck barbecue will start immediately after the race.

The kid’s triathlon will feature a short swim around the buoys of the swim area at Indian Beach followed by a kid appropriate bike and run distance.

The adult triathlon will feature a quarter-mile out and back swim followed by a  six-mile bike and 1.5 mile run.

The club will provide veggie burgers, hamburgers, hot dogs and water for the barbecue. Participants are asked to bring an item to share according to their last name. Last names beginning with A through G are asked to bring beverages; H through M  should bring a salad or side dish; N through Q should bring a snack or finger food; R through Z should bring a dessert.

Event Organizer Tim Jones said, “This is typically our most popular event of the year. However, last year’s hot weather on race day deterred several people from participating. Despite the hot weather during the day, the temperature cooled down significantly by the time the bike and run events took place and a fun time was had by all.”

The event is open to all paid members of the club. The cost for non-members is $30 for individuals: $40 for a family.  The membership application can be downloaded from the website, canyonlaketriathlonclub.com, and mailed in.
