Canyon Lake Middle School announces 2017-18 cheer team

Tryouts were held and a new 2017/2018 Canyon Lake Middle School cheer team has been chosen. Cheer Coach Tammy Howard said, “We have 30 very talented girls for our team and we are so excited to see what these girls can do.”

The team will begin summer practices July 19 as well as a two-day cheer camp on July 28 and 29.

“We have a lot to prepare for over summer and these girls will work extremely hard to get it done,” said Tammy. Before school starts, the team will have already put in 37 hours of practice.

Over summer, the team will learn cheers and several routines as well as work on team bonding, stunting, tumbling and planning the events for the school year.

The first performance will be held during Back to School Night on Aug. 14 followed by another performance on Aug. 18 during school assemblies.

Canyon Lake residents who made the team are: Captain Ryn Andersen, Caylee Coughlin, Captain Kylie Hill, Kolena Apana, Riley Bergherm, Kaylee Bigler, Ryleigh Cooley, Skyler Fullerton, Brooke Helbock, Makayla Herbert, Rula Katsouridis, Zoe Kays, Sydney Manning, Taylor Martin, Riley Smith, Madison Sweet and Julia Zitzke. Additional team members are Captain Allie Brockie, Audrey Austin, Lacey Castillo, Katrina de Vera, Hannah Gerken, Payton Harding, Mariah Morris, Kaley Pelton, Kailani Rjiejahh, Isabella Roe, Brooklyn Smith, Katelynn Stout and Isabella Villarreal.
