New wave band Berlin set to perform at lodge tomorrow

New wave band Berlin, featuring Terri Nunn, will perform at the lodge on Saturday. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; show starts at 7:30. The concert is part of the POA’s 2017 Concerts at the Lodge lineup. Residents interested in purchasing tickets are out of luck – the concert is sold out.

Berlin gained mainstream-commercial success in the early 80s with singles “The Metro” and “No More Words.” In the mid 80s, Berlin topped the charts with their single “ Take My Breath Away” from the 1986 film Top Gun. The song was a huge international hit and earned an Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song.

Concert Promoter Doug Schultz says the show will be a mix of Berlin’s 80s classics peppered with tracks from their latest release.

Opening for Berlin is Canyon Laker Aprile DeAnne. Aprile is a local entertainer who’s performed on numerous occasions at the Canyon Lake Lodge and Country Club and other local establishments.

Aprile said, “Opening for one of my favorite bands from my teenage years is an honor.”

Aprile’s set list will include memorable songs from the 80s. “They’re popular songs from the 80s that I hope people will enjoy singing along to,” said the singer.

Starting at 2 p.m., the Lighthouse Restaurant will offer a special concert menu. Happy Hour specials will not be offered. Reservations are highly recommended.

Contemporary country music artist Ty Herndon will perform at the lodge on Sept. 9. Ty has charted a total of 17 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. His string of hits include “What Mattered Most,” “Living in the Moment” and “It Must Be Love.” VIP tickets are $55; General Admission tickets are $25.

Leon Russell was scheduled to appear at the lodge on Nov. 4, 2017. Unfortunately, Leon passed away on Nov. 13, 2016. His replacement is rock and blues legend and Grammy Award winner Rick Derringer. Rick has played with John and Edgar Winter, Steely Dan and The McCoys. “Rock & Roll Hoochie Koo,” “Hang on Sloopy” and “Rikki Don’t Lose that Number” are some of the mega hits Rick produced. VIP tickets are $55; General Admission tickets are $30.

The “Concerts at the Lodge” concerts are sponsored by the POA and produced by Doug Schultz. Doug, concert manager for the Entercom San Diego radio stations, is a project manager, talent buyer and contract negotiator of over 2,000 concerts and special events. He has over 30 years experience in the concert business and has worked with over 5,000 national acts.

Tickets can be purchased online at canyonlakepoa.com or in person at Member Services at the POA office.
