The Canyon Lake Golf Course has several clubs and a Junior Development Program. Tee Time reservations begin at 6 a.m. daily and may be made seven days in advance. Residents may purchase single rounds of golf in the Golf Pro Shop at the country club. Annual golf memberships are available to both residents and non-residents.

Junior Golf Camp

Junior Golf Camp begins July 10 and runs through July 14. Hours are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The camp is hosted by the Pro Shop staff and is for children ages five to 18. Participants will be divided by age and skill level.

Each day instructors will focus on different techniques from putting and chipping to pitching and driving. Registration is $35 per golfer and includes instructions, skills test, awards and prizes. On the final day of camp, juniors will celebrate their camp completion with an awards ceremony and barbecue. Registration began June 1. Family Golf Club

The Family Golf Club promotes the sport of golf bringing together men, women and juniors in an atmosphere of education, camaraderie, fairness and competition in a friendly family oriented environment.

The club hosts beginner and youth clinics, tournaments and social events throughout the year. The club’s official golf day is Wednesday at approximately 11:30 a.m. Some members schedule golf days on Mondays, Fridays or Saturdays at 11:30 a.m.

The tournament director works closely with Golf Pro Pat Kemball and his staff to assure tournaments are balanced. FGC is a member of the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA). It holds open meetings the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club. For membership information, call Kevin O’Leary at 951-818-3361. Women’s Golf Club

The Women’s Golf Club would like to invite all members of the Men’s, Women’s and 9ers’ golf clubs to participate in its Out of Africa Tournament on July 8 at 7:30 a.m.  Players are invited to pick their own foursomes.

The entry fee is $35. Per person. There will be Gross and Net awards for the Jack and Jill and Jill and Jill divisions. Sign up sheets are in the Pro Shop at the country club.

The club is holding its 18th annual Pink on the Links Breast Cancer Tournament on July 25 with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. All Canyon Lake golfers are welcome to participate.

The format is Goofy Golf with a 4-person scramble. There will be a Ladies Flight, Couples Flight and a Men’s Flight. Prizes will be awarded in each division. There will also be a Skin game for both men and women. The entry fee is $40 and includes lunch. Additional green fee applies for non annual members. Sign ups are taken in the Golf Pro Shop.

The proceeds from this event will go to Michelle’s Place, a breast cancer recourse center in Murrieta. Michelle’s Place has helped many Canyon Lake women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. The Canyon Lake Women’s Golf Club was established in 1971 and is a member of the Women’s Southern California Golf Association (WSCGA). The club meets on Tuesdays in the Magnolia Room at the county club. Women wishing to play must check in before 7:30 a.m.; start time is 8 a.m. In the spring and summer the club meets at 7 a.m. Major tournaments include the President’s Cup, Club Championship and Senior Tournament. 9ers Golf Club

The 9ers Golf Club is a member of the Women’s Southern California Golf Association. Ladies who are interested in playing golf and making new friends are invited to play with the 9ers Golf Club; all levels of golfers are welcome.

The club meets at 8:30 a.m. on Thursdays in the Magnolia Room at the country club and tees off at 9 a.m. For more information, call Linda Kielty at 951-746-2250.

Men’s Golf Club

The Canyon Lake Men’s Golf Club has more than 200 members. The club meets for play every Wednesday morning. Sign ups are taken in the Magnolia Room at the country club between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m.

CLMGC sponsors eight major tournaments throughout the year. Dues include membership in the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA). Canyon Lake residents and property owners age 18 and older are eligible. For more information, call Membership Director Greg Brack at 951-570-1239.

After Lunch Bunch

Last Friday the “Bunch” endured a hot sunny day with the temperature reaching over 100 degrees. Thirty-one golfers teed off for a game of Individual Tin Whistle.

The winners are as follows:

“A” Flight

1st: Darrell Hartzell, 30; 2nd: Hal Stiffler, 29; 3rd: Jesse Beecher, 23; 4th: Sam Kim, 23.

“B” Flight

1st: Joe Strong, 25; 2nd: Roland Clark, 22; 3rd: Ed Doidge, 20; 4th: Bob Tice, 19.

The six winners of the weekly “Skins” competition are: Sam Kim, holes 2 and 13; Darrell Hartzell, hole 4; Jeff Roach, hole 5; Roland Clark, hole 7; Hal Stiffler, hole 17.

Now in its 37th year, the “After Lunch Bunch” offers a friendly game of golf every Friday throughout the year.

The group plays an 18-hole tournament. Entries are open to all male golfers with an established handicap. Entry fee is $5 with an optional 25 maximum “Skins” game. Tee time is 8 a.m. with sign ups taken between 6:30 to 7:15 a.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club or by phone at 951- 249-4565 or 951-237-6102.

Adult Golf Lessons

The golf professional staff offers golf lessons seven days a week. Adult lessons are $35 for a 30 minute session; $50 for one hour session. Three one hour sessions can be purchased for $135; five one hours session for $200. Reservations are required. For group pricing, call the Golf Pro Shop at 951-244-6841, ext. 820.

Junior Golf Lessons

Junior golf lessons are available by appointment. Lessons are $25 for a 30 minute session; $100 for five 30 minute sessions; $40 for one hour sessions and $100 for three one hour sessions. Sign ups are taken at the Golf Pro Shop.

Junior Development Program

The Junior Development Program is a golf instructional program for children ages 4 to 14. It runs every Sunday at 1 p.m. and Wednesdays at 4 p.m. There is testing every month to provide students with the ability to move on to a higher level. Once the student passes all three levels they are eligible to play with the advanced group. The registration fee is $100 and includes the first month payment, hat and golf shirt. Monthly fees are $60.
