CLMS cheer team ends year with impressive GPA

Canyon Lake Middle School (CLMS) cheer team ended the school year with an impressive group GPA of 3.625. Coach Tammy Howard said, “This is an amazing accomplishment and shows how dedicated the group is to their academics and commitments to cheer.”

Twenty-one of the 29 girls were recognized at the CLMS Cougar awards for earning a 3.5 or higher GPA.

Sixteen squad members earned Athletic Scholar medals for having a GPA of 3.8 or higher. Thirteen of the sixteen had a 4.0 GPA. The recipients are: Rebe Andersen, Ryn Andersen, Allie Brockie, Sophia Colson, Caylee Coughlin, Brooke Helbock, Kylie Hill, Zoe Kays, Daysia Kee, Emma Lewis, Sydney Manning, Mariah Morris, Jaelyn Pelton, Kaley Pelton and Tori Quinn. Ten of the students are Canyon Lake residents.

All the team members were recognized and received certificates and trophies for being a member of the team.

Members of the competition team received a certificate and team medal. Captains Sophia Colson and Emma Lewis were presented with a gift for all their efforts this year. Both girls are Canyon Lake residents.

Specialty awards were presented to: Sophia Colson, eighth grade Cheerleader of the Year; Allie Brockie, seventh grade Cheerleader of the Year; Kaley Pelton, sixth grade Cheerleader of the year; Allie Brockie, Best Performer; Sophia Colson, Best Tumbling; Emma Lewis, Best Jumps; Jaylin Gordon, MVP Stunts; Kylie Hill, Most improved. Coaches awards were presented to Jaelyn Pelton and Zoe Kays.

“We had a fantastic year and we wish all our eighth graders all the best in high school,” said Tammy.
