Canyon Laker Janet Stephens caught a 9.9 pound large-mouthed bass on Monday. It’s the largest bass she’s ever caught. She caught it on the main lake near the north ski area using a Pro Points Lure called “The Bug.” “It’s my favorite bait now,” she said.

Janet caught two other fish on Monday but said they were not big enough to weigh. “They were around two to three pounds each,” said the lady angler. Janet says her personal goal is to catch a double digit bass.

All bass caught were releases back into the lake. Janet said she always releases the bass she catches back into the lake and takes pride in trying to never damage the fish or leave a hook in their mouths.

Janet has set up a Facebook group for lady anglers called Canyon Lake Bass Babes. She invites other lady angers to the group who wish to share photos of their catches.
