Fourth of July campsite lottery begins Saturday

Following Canyon Lake tradition, the POA will put on another spectacular 4th of July fireworks show. The fireworks are set off on Skippers Island, which makes Happy Camp and Holiday Harbor two of the most popular locations to watch the show. Due to the popularity of these spots, the POA holds lotteries for campsite reservations at the campground and picnic table reservations at Holiday Harbor Park.

Lottery tickets for Happy Camp campsites can be picked up at the campground office beginning this Saturday through June 16 between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Only one lottery entry will be issued per tract and lot. The lottery will be held at Happy Camp on Saturday, June 17 at 10 a.m. Lottery ticket holders must be present to win. Members who enter must show their POA card and be a member in good standing with the POA.

Winners must agree to a $30 non-refundable deposit and pay for a minimum of three days (July 3, 4 and 5). Holiday rates are $55 per day. Winners will get to choose their campsite on a first come, first served basis. There are approximately 40 campsites available.

For additional information, contact the campground at 951-244-6841, ext. 650.

The lottery for picnic table reservations at Holiday Harbor Park will be held at the POA office on Saturday, June 24 at 9 a.m. Lottery tickets can be picked up at the POA office June 17 through June 23. There are 17 tables available. Members who enter the lottery must be present to win, show a valid POA card and be in good standing with the POA.

The members whose names are pulled will be assigned one table per tract and lot. The rest of the park will be available on a first come, first served basis for residents to set up their own canopies and seating areas to watch the fireworks.

For additional information, contact the Activities department at 951-244-6841, ext. 610.

According to the POA, past year’s records show that more than 10,000 guest passes are issued over the 4th of July weekend. For those expecting guests, getting passes into their hands prior to the holiday will help to get them through the busy gates quicker. The POA encourages residents to request pre-printed guest passes and mail them to their guests prior to the holiday.

Guest lists submitted to the POA should include tract and lot number, member phone number, date of visit, date of departure and the driver’s first and last name as it appears on their license. The driver must have a valid driver’s license in their possession when entering the community. Guest should also know the member’s address. This will help the guards at the gate verify information quicker.

For additional information about 4th of July guest passes, contact Member Services at 951-244-6841.
