In Memoriam: Nancy Ellis (Shaw) Wamsley

Beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away on May 5, 2017 at the age of 84.

Born on February 20, 1933 and raised in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, Nancy was the fourth of five children. A few years after graduating from Bryn Mawr High School, she and her sisters moved to California where she began working as an executive secretary in downtown Los Angeles.

Not long after that, Nancy met the love of her life, Jack Wamsley, to whom she was married for the rest of her life. They were together over sixty years, sharing a life filled with love, joy, family and complete devotion to one another.

Nancy was also devoted to their two children, Chris and Debra, for whom she changed careers to be a stay-at-home mom. In 1970 the family moved to Whittier, California.

Nancy was very involved in her kids’ activities, and also enjoyed going to concerts, taking vacations with her family and summers by the pool with friends. Once the kids were older, she returned to the workforce at Safeway Federal Credit Union for several years.

In 1987, Nancy and Jack moved to Canyon Lake, California, where Jack became very involved politically. Jack served on the POA board and as a city council member, among numerous other pursuits, and Nancy provided unwavering love and support through it all.

Nancy was truly young-at-heart, always keeping up with the latest music, tv shows and electronics. She also enjoyed sewing, and shopping online for her family, especially her granddaughter Danielle whom she loved to spoil.

She is survived by her devoted husband Jack Wamsley, son Christopher Wamsley, daughter Debra Stephenson and granddaughter Danielle Stephenson.

Nancy was loved by all who knew her and she will live on forever in our hearts.

Services will be held at Riverside National Cemetery in early July, date to be annoucd.
