Letter: Passing of Fran Pothier

Editor, The Friday Flyer:

This week, Canyon Lake lost one our most treasured friends and community supporters with the passing of Fran Pothier in Mesquite, Nevada, while on a “Bucket List” golf trip with just 15 of his many close friends.

Fran and I had a special connection whereas 17 years ago on the first day of our golf trip with 60 other Canyon Lakers Fran and I, along with Rich Humphries, were on the 16th hole when Rich had a massive heart attack and passed. I stayed with Rich and Fran went for assistance.

That night as we all met Fran spoke to the group and we had a prayer for Rich, just as we had for Fran at the first tee at Wolf Creek.

I remember how Fran spoke to the group in Ireland on how Rich would want us all to continue our trip and know that he left this world in a way he only could have dreamed of, playing golf in Ireland.

At 86, Fran lived his life until his last day doing what he loved most and doing it surrounded by good friends and people he loved and loved him in return.
