Triathlon Club raises money for animal shelter

Approximately 25 riders participated in the sixth annual Tour de Canyon Lake on Sunday, April 23. The annual event was hosted by the Canyon Lake Fitness and Triathlon Club. The 15-mile ride through “a little bit of paradise” began at the lodge and continued to each of the gates and the campground.

Participants were asked to bring pet food donations for Animal Friends of the Valleys in exchange for a free Tour de Canyon Lake T-shirt. Club President Karin Cassidy said, “We collected lots of pet food and treats as well as $153 in cash donations for Animal Friends of the Valleys.

On behalf of the Fitness and Triathlon Club, thanks to all of the riders and volunteers who participated.”

The Canyon Lake Triathlon Club was founded in June 2010. The club’s vision is to promote a healthy lifestyle through swimming, cycling, running and other cross training activities. Its mission is to help club members achieve their goals through free monthly races and frequent, structured group practices.

The club hosts a number of annual events for the community including the 5k Run/Walk, Tour de Canyon Lake and Paddle Pedal Regatta, which is scheduled for August 12 at Indian Beach.
