Drop off unwanted eyeglasses and hearing aids this Saturday

As part of a statewide effort to help those with vision problems, the Canyon Lake Lions Club is collecting unused eyeglass this Saturday, March 18.

The Club will have a collection table set up in front of Pack, Wrap and Post in the Towne Center between the hours of 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hearing aids and cell phones are also being collected.

“Your old glasses can make a difference to those in need, both young and old,” says a spokesperson for the club.”

If residents can not make it to the drop off location on March 18, the club asks that residents place them in the donation boxes located at the County Club or at Pack, Wrap and Post.

The collected eyeglasses will be delivered to the regional Lions eyeglass recycling centers where volunteers clean, sort by prescription strength and package the glasses. The recycled glasses are then distributed to people in need in developing countries where they will have the greatest impact.

Last year, Canyon Lake residents donated 681 pairs of eyeglasses. More than 100,400 pairs were collected throughout California.
