Canyon Lake Chamber to host annual golf tournament

Golfers are invited to mark their calendars for the Annual Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament supporting Junior Golf at the Canyon Lake Golf Course on Saturday, May 20. This event is open to the public.

The tournament begins at 10 a.m. with registration, followed by special contests, shot gun starts at noon, 1st annual Ball  Drop, dinner, awards and raffles.

This year’s  tournament registration form has three flights: Open, Senior (60+ all participants) and Jack & Jill (2 women, 2 men).

Registration is $100 per player; Canyon Lake Golf Course members pay only $65. Registration includes rounds of golf, golf cart fee and dinner. The cost to attend dinner only is $25.

Completed registration form and payment should be made payable to the Chamber and mailed to the Chamber of Commerce mailing address 31566 Railroad Canyon Rd., Canyon Lake, CA. 92587. Participants also may sign up at the Pro Shop at the Golf Course and at Pack, Wrap and Post in the Towne Center.

Sponsorship opportunities are available by sponsoring a tee or donating a gift basket for the raffle.

The Ball Drop will take place after the tournament. Balls will drop from the sky with one winner whose ball lands at the bottom of the cup. The winner will receive half of the money from the pot, up to $5,000. Winner need not be present.

Golf Balls are available for $10 each and are available at the Chamber office, Pro  Shop at the Country Club and Pack, Wrap and Post.   A limited number of balls are available.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the Jr. Golf. In attendance will be Gabe Hrab, the PGA pro who began the Junior Golf Program in 1980. The program is a level based program for children ages 5 to 17. There is testing every month to provide the students with the ability to move on to a higher level.

Once the student passes all three levels they are eligible to play with the advanced group. The initial cost is $100 followed by monthly payments of $60. For more information about the Jr. Golf Program, contact Bryan Carlson at carlsonb@pga.com or sign up in the Golf Pro Shop.
