Got some extra eyewear? The Canyon Lake Lions Club is collecting new and used eyeglasses as part of a statewide effort to help those with vision problems.

The club will have a collection table set up in front of Pack, Wrap and Post in the Towne Center on Saturday, March 18, between the hours of 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

They are asking residents to “give the gift of sight” by donating their unwanted eyeglasses.

The club also is collecting unwanted hearing aids and cell phones.

If residents can not make it to the drop off location on March 18, the club asks that residents place their unwanted glasses in the donation boxes located at the County Club or at Pack, Wrap and Post.

The collected eye glasses will be delivered to the regional Lions eyeglass recycling centers where volunteers clean, sort by prescription strength and package the glasses. The recycled glasses are then distributed to people in need in developing countries where they will have the greatest impact.
