Spotlight on Volunteers: LaRue MCNamara

LaRue moved to Canyon Lake in 1994. She immediately began serving the community and hasn’t stopped since.

LaRue has been a member of the Lioness Club for 22 years, serving four yeas as the club’s president. She is the current president of the Home Owners Club, a club she’s been a member of for 20 years. She’s a 21 year member of the Roadrunners Club and an 18 year member of both the Emergency Preparedness Committee and the Fiesta Day Committee. Hosting the reception for the dignitaries is among her volunteer work on the Fiesta Day Committee.

For the past 18 years LaRue has served as the coordinator for the “Meet the Candidates” Forum. She’s a 14 year member of the Woman’s Club and a six year member of the Veterans Day Committee. She is a former member of the Parks and Beaches Committee.

LaRue is involved in volunteer work outside of Canyon Lake too. She is one of the founding Directors of “Honor Flight”, an organization that takes Veterans on trips to Washington. LaRue was named Canyon Lake’s “Volunteer of the Year” in 2002 and “Citizen of the Year” in 2015.
