Local chef enters So-Cal Chef Open


Local resident and chef Wayne Quintos is competing in the 9th annual So-Cal Chef Open in the Grand Ballroom at Pechanga Resort and Casino on Monday, Oc-tober 24, at 5 p.m. Wayne, the head chef at The Sports Stop and owner of Urban Catering Company, will compete along with 14 other chefs from some of the top restaurants in Southern California.

Last year, Wayne took 3rd place in the Top Chef category and 2nd place in the People’s Choice category. This year, the Pinnacle Top Chef Award winners will be selected by a panel of chefs and food experts who judge for taste, creativity and presentation. The People’s Choice Award winners will be decided by those in at-tendance at the event.

This year’s Mistress of Ceremonies is Celebrity Chef Penny Davidi. All proceeds from this event will help to benefit the at-risk and special needs youth of Oak Grove Center for Education Treatment. Tickets are $45 at the door.
