Glen Ivy welcomes CL Bosom Buddies

The Canyon Lake Bosom Buddies always stays busy in the month of October, spreading the word on Breast Cancer Awareness, but this October was very special. Glen Ivy Hot Springs in Corona extended  a very special invitation to Kimbo Slingerland and Janelle Basham, the two volunteers who make up the Canyon Lake Bosom Buddies.

Bosom Buddies is an organization whose mission is to educate, inspire and support newly-diagnosed breast cancer survivors during their breast cancer journey.

Both Kimbo and Janelle were invited to invite seven of the past survivors they have mentored to  enjoy a very special day at Glen Ivy Hot Springs.  The purpose was not only to be spoiled at the Hot Springs but for spreading breast cancer awareness in a campaign ad for Glen Ivy Hot Springs for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Glen Ivy photographer, Carrie Harrel of Carrie McGuire Photography (www.carriemcguire.com),  did an incredible job captivating the entire day of these fabulous survivors being spoiled and pampered in one of the most beautiful spots in our local area.

The day started before the sun came up at 5 a.m. Each of the ladies was given a chance to chat in a beautiful cabana with endless coffee, fruit platter and a chef-created breakfast. All the survivors were able to catch up and chat about their past journeys, life after breast cancer and the fun-filled day ahead of them.

Each survivor was given a professional makeover, massage and a pink swimsuit. The swimsuit was provided by Glen Ivy for the survivors to model. Each of the survivors also was given a giant balloon to spell out the words “awareness,” as this was the goal of the photo-shoot. After the photo-shoot was done, the women were given a free pass to spend the rest of the day in the mineral baths, spas and pools.

The highlight of the event was that Glen Ivy shared each survivor’s story on its website, www.GlenIvy.com. The message of the day was that “early detection saves lives. “
