Dogs, owners parade their Halloween costumes

Last weekend some of Canyon Lake’s pooches showed up at Sunday’s Farmers Market all dressed up for Halloween.

Before awards were handed out, pets and pet parents hung out in the shade as they visited and admired each other’s costumes. After a short parade though the Farmers Market, the Canyon Lake Royal Court took on the task of judging which dogs would win awards for their costumes in the categories of cutest, funniest, most original and pet/owner look-alike.

For the fourth year, Pet Parade Organizer Cyndi Hermanns passed out the awards and prizes. There was also a drawing for several “doggie” prizes.

The winners were as follows:

1st (tie): Panda Spaniels, Blue-Eyed Tuxedo

2nd: Star Hat Hound

3rd: Ewok

4th: Hawaiian Spaniel

1st (tie): Straw Hat Hound, Super Dog

Most Original

1st: Yoda Mount

Pet/Owner Look-Alike

1st: Minions

The Farmers Market operates every Sunday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the upper section of the Towne Center parking lot. It features fresh produce from local farmers and fresh flowers from area growers as well as handcrafted items, vendor merchandise and freshly prepared food. It’s a good place to pick up fresh food for holiday meals and gifts from local vendors
